People often ask us what actually happens between filling out the Netherite form and getting your regedit. We won't share our exact settings or formulas, because that's the part we've spent years testing. But we can explain how the process works, and why it's built the way it is.
The problem with "one-size-fits-all" tweak packs
Free tweak packs apply the same values to every PC. The trouble is that the right value depends on the system:
- A setting that helps a 6-core CPU on Wi-Fi can do nothing, or even hurt, on a 16-core CPU on Ethernet.
- Network settings that suit a low-ping connection feel different when you play from another continent.
- A tweak that's fine for a gaming-only PC can cause trouble on a PC that also hosts a TeamSpeak or Minecraft server.
A generic pack has to guess, and most of the time the guess is wrong for your setup. That's why we never sell one.
Step 1: Profiling your system
When you configure Netherite, the form asks about the things that actually change how your PC should be tuned:
- Windows version and install drive, so the build targets your system correctly.
- Connection type, download and upload speed, and average ping to the servers you play on.
- Processor make, model and core count, plus installed RAM.
- Network adapter details (such as your MTU and adapter GUID), so network settings apply to the adapter you actually use.
- Your setup: whether you use a TcpNoDelay mod, and whether you host anything on your PC.
- Input preferences: optional mouse and keyboard optimizations.
Each answer narrows things down. Together they describe your machine, not an "average" gaming PC.
Step 2: Your playstyle with CompetitionControl Pro
Hardware is only half of it. Two players on identical PCs can want completely different things from a fight. That's what CompetitionControl is for.
- CompetitionControl sets your attacking style: how your hits, pots and pearls feel.
- CompetitionControl Pro, available only in Netherite, adds your defensive style: how your knockback feels.
For each one you pick Reactive, Balanced or Delayed. Balanced takes your connection into account too, nudging you slightly toward reactive or delayed depending on your network. That way the feel stays consistent instead of changing every time your ping does. You can read the full breakdown in our CompetitionControl post.
Step 3: Building your regedit
Our team combines your system profile and your playstyle into one build. Netherite covers these areas:
- Input latency: how quickly mouse and keyboard input moves through Windows to the game.
- Scheduling and priority: how Windows divides CPU time between your game and everything else, tuned to your processor.
- Network stack: how packets are buffered, acknowledged and paced, shaped by your connection type, speed, ping and CompetitionControl choices.
- Power and timer behavior: keeping the system responsive instead of trading responsiveness for power saving.
- Background noise reduction: cutting down on background activity that competes with the game during a fight.
The point is that each area is set relative to your profile. The same category can get different values on two different PCs, and that's how it should be.
Safety first: Backups and a transparent build
A regedit changes system settings, so we treat safety as part of the product:
- Back up before you apply. We always recommend creating a registry backup first, so you can restore your previous state at any time.
- Nothing is hidden. Our files aren't encrypted, so you can open your regedit and look at every setting it changes.
- Windows only, game untouched. Netherite doesn't modify the Minecraft client, inject code or run anything alongside the game. More on that in Is a regedit bannable?
- Built for you only. Because it's tuned to your system, a Netherite regedit shouldn't be shared. On someone else's PC it may do nothing or cause problems.
Classic, Obsidian or Netherite?
- Classic: the original, proven RegeditMC package for casual players.
- Obsidian: a more advanced network configuration plus OS, mouse and keyboard optimizations, with CompetitionControl.
- Netherite: our most complete build, with the widest range of optimization areas, the deepest profiling and CompetitionControl Pro, made for competitive players.
If PvP is something you take seriously, Netherite is the package built around your PC and your playstyle.
