Windows 11 is a good gaming OS, but its defaults favour battery life and background features. Here's how to set it up for Minecraft.
Create a restore point or registry backup before changing system settings.
Settings > Gaming > Game Mode on. Disable background recording if you don't use it.
Use Best performance (or High/Ultimate Performance). On laptops, plug in.
Settings > System > Display > Graphics and set javaw.exe to High performance.
Test with it on and off; results vary by GPU.
Task Manager > Startup apps: disable everything you don't need.
System > About > Advanced system settings > Performance: "Adjust for best performance" or keep only font smoothing.
On some systems Core Isolation features cost gaming performance. Only change this if you understand the security trade-off.
Wired connection, up-to-date adapter drivers, no background downloads. Windows Update delivery optimization can be limited under Windows Update > Advanced options.
Many "one-click" registry tweaks online are copied blindly and can make things worse on your specific adapter and connection. We've written about this in Are regedits fake?. The right values depend on your hardware, network and even playstyle.
That's why every RegeditMC regedit is built for one system only. You give us your PC and connection details, and we calculate the values. Netherite covers network, CPU, RAM, mouse and keyboard plus CompetitionControl Pro. The file is unencrypted, so you can see every change. Compare packages.
Do the safe basics yourself, and leave the deep registry tuning to something built for your setup.
