Minecraft Hits Not Registering? Why It Happens in PvP and What to Check

Quick answer: When your hits don't register in Minecraft PvP, it's usually one of three things: an unstable connection (spikes and packet loss, not just high ping), your PC adding delay between click and packet, or the server itself. You can fix the first two at home: go wired, close background downloads, check your client settings, and keep Windows from fighting the game for resources. If it only happens on one server, it's probably that server.

We've been tuning PCs for PvP players since 2015, and "my hits don't land" is one of the most common things we hear. Here's how we'd go through it.

1. Is it your connection or the server?

Join two or three different servers. If hits feel off everywhere, it's on your side. If it's just one server or one region, it's likely the server or the route to it.

Watch for:

  • Ping spikes, not average ping. A steady 80ms often feels better than 30ms that jumps to 200.
  • Packet loss. Even 1 to 2% makes hits vanish. Run a long ping to the server's address and look for timeouts.

2. Go wired if you can

Wi-Fi is the number one cause of "ghost hits" we see. An ethernet cable (or at least a powerline adapter) removes a lot of random spikes. If you're stuck on Wi-Fi, use the 5GHz band and sit closer to the router.

3. Kill background traffic

Steam updates, Windows Update, cloud sync, a sibling streaming 4K. Any of these can cause spikes right when you're mid-combo. Pause them before you queue.

4. Check your client settings

  • Cap FPS at a stable number your PC can actually hold instead of "unlimited" if it's dipping.
  • Turn off VSync.
  • On Lunar or Badlion, turn off mods you don't use.

Our Minecraft PvP settings guide goes through this in detail.

5. Input delay on your PC

Sometimes the hit leaves your mouse fine but your PC takes its time sending it. Background processes, power saving, and default Windows networking behavior can all add small delays. Separately, they're tiny. Together, you notice them. See our input delay guide for the free stuff to try first.

6. When free fixes aren't enough

If you've done all the above and it still feels inconsistent, that's where a custom regedit can help. At RegeditMC, we build every regedit by hand for your specific hardware, network and playstyle, instead of handing you a one-size-fits-all pack. Results depend on your setup and your connection, so we won't promise a magic number, but a lot of players tell us combat feels more consistent afterwards.

You can see the packages here: Classic ($17.97), Obsidian ($23.97) and Netherite ($29.97). Not sure which fits? Netherite vs Obsidian vs Classic explains the difference.

FAQ

Why do my hits not register on Hypixel? Usually connection spikes or packet loss on your side, especially on Wi-Fi. If it's only during busy hours, the server or your ISP's route can play a part too.

Is bad hit reg the same as high ping? Not really. Stable ping is far more important than low ping. Spikes and loss are what make hits disappear.

Can a regedit fix hit registration? It can't fix the server or your ISP. What it can do is cut down on the delay and inconsistency your own PC adds. We tune each one by hand for your setup.

Is a regedit bannable? A regedit changes Windows settings, not the game or the server. Full answer here: Is a regedit bannable?

Which package should I pick? Classic is a great start. Obsidian and Netherite go deeper and include CompetitionControl options. Compare them on the purchase page.
