Good settings won't make you a better player overnight, but bad settings will hold you back. Here's a clean baseline for Bedwars, BoxPvP and classic 1.8.9 PvP.
Video settings
- Render distance: 6-8 chunks. Enough to see bridges coming, light on the CPU.
- Graphics: Fast. Smooth lighting: Off or Minimum.
- Particles: Decreased. Hit particles still show, clutter doesn't.
- Max framerate: Unlimited, or capped just below your stable FPS.
- VSync: Off. It adds input delay.
- View bobbing: Off for steadier aim.
Controls
- Mouse sensitivity: Most PvP players sit between 70 and 110% in game with 400-800 DPI. Lower sensitivity helps tracking; higher helps fast turns in Bedwars. Pick one and stick with it.
- Raw input: On, if your client supports it.
- Disable Windows "Enhance pointer precision" so your aim is consistent.
Network and system
Your settings can be perfect and you'll still lose trades if your connection is unstable. Play wired, close background downloads, and see our guide to reducing lag in Minecraft PvP.
For the last step, a custom regedit from RegeditMC tunes Windows network and performance settings for your exact PC and connection, so hits register faster and knockback feels more consistent.
Bedwars-specific tips
- Bind blocks and your sword to keys you can reach without moving your hand.
- Use a texture pack with clear wool and bed textures.
- Practice bridging on a low-latency server before ranked games.
